Whenever the Ten Commandments are mentioned, someone immediately questions their relevance to and/or their appropriateness for our time. For instance, you may remember when Ted Turner declared the Ten Commandments obsolete. Speaking to the Newspaper Association of America in Atlanta a few years ago, he said, "We're living with outmoded rules. The rules we're living under is (sic) the Ten Commandments, and I bet nobody here even pays much attention to 'em, because they are too old. When Moses went up on the mountain, there were no nuclear weapons, there was no poverty. Today, the commandments wouldn't go over. The commandments are out."
Gary Redding claims in God's Commanding Words that the Ten Commandments are still relevant and appropriate today.
