This is the author's account of walking a 180-mile route over mountains, across bogland, along canal and riverbanks and through towns and villages from Dalkey in County Dublin to Ballyvaghan in County Clare. It is an enthusiastic traveller's tale of discovery, a unique cross-sectional view of a hidden Ireland. He weaves in and out between the natural world of plants and wildlife and the human world of grand buildings, old ruins, farms, pubs and houses.
