Contemporary trends in education reflect a shift from traditional teacher centred approaches to more student-centred approaches to learning. Empowering students in their own learning is facilitated by teaching them effective meaning-making strategies that support active participation in their own learning. Student's life throughout high school and college is filled thinking about, trying to date, failing to date and being dumped" the mating game is filled with stress, but it also involves distress, and is among the greatest causes of stress on students. The school environment itself can be a cause of stress on students. Students moving into secondary education find challenging to constantly move around to classes. Theses matriculating to tertiary education are challenged with leaving home and establishing a new life in a new setting. Stress or tension, has become an integral part of our daily life. A little bit of stress may be unavoidable and good too, for it would never allow us to be complacent in life. But too much of stress may be counterproductive and would in due course impair both our physical and mental health.
