This book shows how themes such as gender deconstruction, performativity, masculinity, vulnerability or abjection are present in the Gospel of Mark. The Gospel of Mark goes beyond all limits in his account of the passion. Abjection is what distinguishes what is fully human from what is not. Jesus defines a new order and new frontiers thanks to his zeal to announce good news for all abject bodies. The author investigates the precariousness of bodies, the dialectic of power that exists between the act of looking at another male body and subversion and transgression of borders, both real and symbolic.
