Fred D'Aguiar is a British-Guyanese writer of poetry, fiction, drama and essays. Born in London of Guyanese parents, he grew up in Guyana and returned to London for his secondary and tertiary education. His memoir, Year of Plagues (Carcanet), was published in 2021. His most recent poetry book, his eighth, is For the Unnamed (Carcanet, 2023). His sixth novel, Children of Paradise (Granta, 2016), is about Jonestown, Guyana. He is Professor of English at UCLA.
