Musings and Memories is a light-hearted poetic glimpse into the life of author Sue Hollings, spanning some fifty years and a number of key events. The poems vary in both tone and style, yet always remain reflective - and according to the author, reminiscent - of Sue's journey through the ups and downs of both the unique and the everyday.
One interesting highlight is Eyes Along the Coast, seven verses that introduce the reader to the author's experience as a watchkeeper for NCI, the National Coastwatch Institution; when people find themselves in trouble, the NCI is there to alert the Coastguard and direct the appropriate emergency and rescue services to attend the situation. At the less life-threatening end of the spectrum, The Little Blade of Grass is a wry look at the author's attempts at lawn bowls.
As Sue says herself, "I enjoy writing about events as they happen, so each poem contains a snapshot of me, recorded forever on the page."
